Brian (Adam Clayton)
When did you first start playing bass?
I started playing when I was 15 with my mates and we were doing original stuff for years giging around Dublin when I should have been doing my homework for school. I then started playing in cover bands doing pubs and clubs playing a bit of everything and now enjoying playing in The Joshua Tree’.
What has been your career high to date?
Playing live in Germany. Playing in a U2 Tribute band was something I always wanted to do so this is also a career high.
What has been your most embarrassing moment as a musician?
I was playing in a certain pub a few years back that had a meter that measured the noise level coming from the stage. If the meter went into the red for more than 2 seconds, it cut the power on the stage. We lost power on the stage about 5 times much to the amusement of the crowd. We finished the gig early. I think unplugged gigs would go down well there.
When was your first live U2 experience?
I first saw U2 in 1993 on the Zoo TV Tour in the RDS.
What is your current favorite U2 song & album?
Heartland & Achtung Baby
Have you ever met U2?
I met Bono in 2002 outside their studio at Grand Canal Dock. I was driving past and saw a crowd there. I took a chance and pulled in. As I walked towards the crowd Bono arrived. I had the ‘Elevation’ single in the car so I grabbed it and he signed it for me. He took time to greet everyone in the crowd. To meet the singer of your favourite band is a real buzz!
